Third Grade – Room 141
Hello! Welcome to my classroom webpage. I have been teaching 3rd grade at Whittier for the past thirteen years. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work in collaboration with so many talented teachers, caring parents, and…fantastic students!
I am a lifelong resident of Kenosha, which is a community I am proud to be a part of and raise my family in. I received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. After a couple of years of teaching, I went back to school to get my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University. When I am not doing school related activities, I am spending as much time as possible with my husband and three beautiful children. To keep involved in their lives and busy schedules, I am their Brownie troop leader and teach their Catechism classes. I love being a cheerleader on the sidelines at their soccer games on Saturdays. I also enjoy playing volleyball and golf with my husband. Before my children, I spent a lot of time coaching swimming and diving for the Tremper girls swim team.
My philosophy in teaching is to be the type of teacher I would want my own children to have. I treat all of the students in my classroom as if they were my own. I want my students to have a memorable third grade experience. My classroom is a safe place where they can learn to their fullest potential. I hope to instill a value of education, a love for learning, and be a positive influence in each child’s life.
I also believe that in order for a child to develop positive attitudes about learning and school, there has to be a strong school/home connection. I hope this website will help keep you updated as to what is going on in our classroom. Please be sure to check the school calendar for special dates and upcoming events, too.
